Gaming Performance Notes:
When the resolution is increased in the more graphic-intense titles, such as Doom 3 and FarCry, the Athlon 64 X2 is a match for the FX-55. While in older, DirectX 8.1-based titles, the FX-55 out shines the X2 4800+.
Interestingly, in the low-detail FarCry test, we found that the Athlon 64 X2 4800+ was the fastest processor. However, the likelihood of someone pairing this processor with a video card that can only deliver a smooth gaming experience at the lowest detail settings would be highly unlikely. Still, if you prefer to game at the minimum details, you will find the Athlon 64 X2 4800+ slightly faster than the FX-55.
